  • DCH is looking for dynamic Camp Director for our K-6th day camp. This seasonal position will run the day-to-day operations and oversee 200+ campers, 50 staff & 5 superviors in a fast paced, fun-filled & action-packed environment.

    Ideal Candidate:

    The candidate will be driven, organized and confident in their leadership. Possess an ability to work with kids, staff, and parents/guardians alike.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred; experience in education administration is highly desirable.

    • Proven experience working with students in an educational setting.

    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and campers alike.

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.

    • A passion for education and youth development.

    • Previous experience in camp management or similar roles is a plus.

  • Along with the DCH Program Director and other aquatic leadership, the Aquatics Director coordinates and supervises all aspects of the DCH Summer Aquatics program and seasonal pool. The pool operates from June 6th to September 3rd.

    The Aquatics Director is required to work until at least August 22nd to comply with BOH regulations for our Summer Camp Program.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Assist in the opening and set-up of the DCH pool in early June

    • Daily chemical testing as required by the State of Massachusetts and BOH.

    • Maintain a clean and safe aquatics area including locker rooms, pool deck, bathrooms, and pavilion area.

    • Work with the pool operator to ensure proper operation of pool mechanics.

    • Ensure that equipment is ordered and maintained, and report items in disrepair to the Facility Manager and Program Director.

    • Ensure all hours of operation are appropriately staffed including being responsible for finding coverage or substituting when necessary.

    • Ensure that staff, members, and campers adhere to all safety rules.

    • Schedule daily breaks for both you and your staff and monitor they are being appropriately taken.

    • Schedule daily rotations considering weather and pool usage.

    • Train aquatics staff to deliver impeccable customer service to all members and patrons at the pool. If problems arise intervene when necessary.

    • Train staff on how to give swim lessons and instructional swim during summer camp hours.

    • Work with Program Director on pool closing decisions due to inclement weather and potential rescheduling of lessons/programs resulting from said closing.

    • Review and approve time sheets for all aquatic staff on a bi-weekly basis.

    • Attend weekly summer leadership meetings.

    • Provide lifeguard staff with evaluations

    • Fulfill any appropriate duties for the position that may arise and that are not mentioned in this job description.

    Requirements:

    • 21 years or older with two years of college or equivalent experience

    • Lifeguarding and WSI certifications must be up-to-date and valid through September 2024.

    • Supervisory experience is required.

    • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications must be up to date and valid through September 2024.

    • Impeccable integrity and ability to be trusted with confidential materials and information.

    • Able to always be professional and embody the spirit of the DCH mission.

    As the Aquatics Director for our Summer Day Camp, you will oversee all aquatic activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for campers. Reporting to the Camp Director, you will utilize your management and customer service skills to lead a team of lifeguards and staff while handling guest services and cash management. Your CPR certification and lifeguarding experience will be essential in maintaining safety standards.     Lifeguards:

    • Must be at least 16 yrs old by June 2025, with a valid lifeguard certification or a strong swimming background (like swim or dive team).
